DUTIES PERFORMED BY EMPLOYEES OF A TORONTO ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR

There are numerous duties performed by a licensed Toronto electrical contractor. Some of the main duties include wiring grid systems used for transportation of electricity, installation of electrical systems in buildings, and maintenance or repair of pre-installed electrical systems. Each of the mentioned duties requires a specialized electrician for the best results. Therefore, there are four major types of workers employed by a Toronto electrical contractor. These are the journey man electrician, apprentice electrician, project supervisor and estimator. The duties performed by each of these persons are discussed in the rest of the article.

The pillar of any Toronto electrical contractor is the electrician dealing with the installation of the systems. Basically, nothing can be done without this person. The apprentice electrician receives in-depth training for a period of 3 to 5 years on installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems. The person takes a paid attachment for a period of about two years before they can be termed as a qualified electrical engineer. They mostly deal with internal installations and repairs with the help of a qualified supervisor. The journeyman electrician has a similar job description to that of an apprentice electrician. However, they are further trained to read and interpret blueprints and troubleshoot electrical systems from basic drawings.

The cost of the whole project is also an important aspect for each and every Toronto electrical contractor. An estimator basically evaluates the problem at hand before the project commences and estimates the total installation costs. They are conversant with the prices of electrical components hence can give a rough estimate of how much the client is supposed to pay by the end of the project. The supervisor oversees the whole project from design to installation and ensures that high quality standards are met. They report directly to the manager and client about the progress of the project. They act as a link between the workers and employer.
